Slices of delicious cake

Here are the Top Ten Recipes for 2019 and I’m here for each and every one of them!!

It’s been a decade…full of so many ups and downs, if I’m being perfectly honest. I’m looking forward to 2020, a whole new decade to futz and infuse with sweetness. I’m considering adding in some savory recipes (mostly because I want to have all of my favorite recipes in one place and I really think you’d love some of them too!!), I’d like to dive more into some sourdough (starters and all) and pastry (think danishes). Regardless, as always, I will try to balance the more challenging with the everyday and always infuse it with some lightness and fun.

As a side note (or maybe not??), this year The Cookie Book has been reprinted (several times) and you sold it out again on Amazon this holiday season. So a big fat thank you for the cookie love.

Thank you for being on this journey with me! Please comment below with any recipes you’d like to see in 2020. Much love to you and your family!! xoxo

Let’s bake all the stuff, shall we?

Brown Butter Muscovado Chocolate Chunk Bar Cookies

The first recipe I posted in 2019 on DisplacedHousewife.com also happens to be the most popular recipe! These bar cookies are one of three recipes I shared from The Cookie Book and I’m so happy you love them as much as I do! Make ’em!

Jessie’s Chocolate Birthday Cake With Strawberry Marshmallow Meringue

What can I say? As soon as I saw this recipe by my friend, Jessie Sheehan, I knew I had to make it asap and it delivered 1000%. I’ve taken it to a number of parties this year and people always freak out over it. It is the perfect celebration cake — thanks for letting me share Jessie!!

Pumpkin Bourbon Cake With Brown Butter Bourbon Buttercream

I’ll forever think of this as my dad’s cake, because he loves it so much! Lots of brown butter, pumpkin, bourbon, literally the best that life has to offer. If ever there was a case to free pumpkin from its’ fall chains, this is it.

Salted Caramel S’mores Tart

This tart was created in partnership with Rodelle and I’m always so happy when a recipe I make for a brand is so wildly loved. The s’mores combo is so perfect in each and every way and when you add homemade salted caramel into the mix?!? Forget about it. Seriously. Just forget it. Tooo too good!

Chocolate Hazelnut Brownies With Espresso Ganache

Another brand collaboration, this one with Diamond of California! I will be forever grateful that you all love ooey gooey stuff as much as I do. This takes delicious brownies (that are perfect on their own) and gives them mega jazz hands. Perfect with whiskey or bourbon or any brown liquor, frankly.

Spice Apple Cake With Brown Butter Buttercream

A 2017 recipe squeaked into the mix and I’m here for it. This cake is so flipping easy and such a crowd pleaser. And then there’s the brown butter, which makes everything better. Don’t wait until next fall to make this beauty!!

Brown Butter Muscovado Chocolate Chip Cookies

Going even farther back in time, these Brown Butter Muscovado Chocolate Chip Cookies have been on the DisplacedHousewife Top Ten Recipes List ever since they were posted in 2016! They are just so freaking delicious. So much so, that I’ve been working on updating the recipe. I think I’m almost there. Stay tuned in 2020 for an updated version of these!

Pumpkin Cupcakes with Chai Frosting

Love that Adam & Ryan’s cupcakes made it to my top ten recipes 2019 list!!! These are so easy to make and equally quick to dazzle. These cupcakes are from their cookbook, Husbands that Cook, that you should run out and get since I know you want to be as veg-forward as me in the New Year.

Crème Fraîche Chocolate Chip Cookies

Closing out the Top Ten Recipes 2019 list are these gems. I had a dream for these cookies but MAN were they a bear to create. By the very nature of what they’re composed of, they want to be cakey. But I really wanted them to have a touch of cake, a little bit of tang, tender texture (which I got!!) and the resulting affect was the most beautiful shiny sheen they get in the process. Love these cookies. Try them when you’re feeling a little frisky. A little extra.

Yes to more savory…interesting pizzas. I am interested in pastry-danishes. Sourdough starters, etc. probably not for me, but I am very interested in the new sourdough yeast. For sweets…always love bar cookies and snack cakes.
