I’ve been digging into the blog archives and baking + cooking a lot of my sweet + savory fall favorites! I wanted to share a quick collection with you here. There are soooo many more (more pumpkin stuff, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin gnocchi, scones, etc etc etc)…but I narrowed it down to a reasonable list for you. Will this become a new thing that I do? I don’t know…let me know what you think!

Some Sweets…

Pumpkin Bourbon Cake

Pumpkin Bourbon Cake With Brown Butter Bourbon Buttercream | Wow, that’s a really long recipe title. But there was no other way to express all of the goodness in here! This recipe includes a tip for making it booze-free, if that’s your jam.

Spiced Apple Cake With Brown Butter Buttercream

Spice Apple Cake With Brown Butter Buttercream | Are you sensing a theme? I love me some brown butter buttercream and it goes perfectly with alll of the fall flavors. Tips for which apples to use as well as simplifying the recipe (without the buttercream). Do it!

Slow Cooker Spiced Apple Cider

Spiced Apple Cider

Slow Cooker Spiced Apple Cider | This one is on the list for today and makes your house smell like autumn exploded in your living room!

Spiced Pumpkin Scones

Spiced Pumpkin Scones

Petite Spiced Pumpkin Scones | Taking it back to my scone lady days! These have three different glaze options: vanilla bean, maple and anise (don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!). You will never want another pumpkin scone recipe again. I swear…

Pumpkin Cupcakes With Chai Frosting

Pumpkin Cupcakes with Chai Frosting

Pumpkin Cupcakes With Chai Frosting | This GORGEOUS recipe comes from Adam and Ryan‘s cookbook, Husband’s The Cook and it’s incredible! The perfect, socially-distanced dessert to share with friends, if I do say so myself…

Five Spice Fig Jam

Fig Jam

Five Spice Fig Jam | This is a quickie freezer jam and since we’re ushering in cheese & charcuterie board season (although I would argue that all of 2020 has been cheese & charcuterie season), you must make some of this to eat with allll of the cheese and allll the wine. You can also swap in plums to make this, if you can still find them. *ALSO* this goes great with my homemade Manchego Crackers.

Some Savory Eats…

Portuguese Soup

Portuguese Soup

Portuguese Soup With Crispy Prosciutto + Manchego Toast | Hailing from the days when I still did savory…I’ve been craving soup as the weather is turning just the slightest bit cooler (we’re entering a heat wave this weekend, but still) and this one is at the top of the list…

Chicken Corn Chowder

Chicken Corn Chowder

Chicken Corn Chowder | I have been cravingggg this soup. Zero cream or flour in here, it’s lighter than you think. It’s one of my most favorite recipes from an old issue of Cooking Light that I’ve tweak and adapted. Make it — I know you’ll love it!!

Overnight Pizza

Marinated Olive Beer-Crusted Pizza | Recipe via DisplacedHousewife Rebecca Firth

Overnight Pizza | I recently made this with marinated olives (which I LOVE)…but you can feel free to put any toppings over this pizza. More than anything, I want you to try my latest, newest pizza dough recipe. It’s my usual beer-crust pizza dough but with more moisture. It bakes up perfectly crispy on the bottom, lots of dough bubbles around the edges and it’s a cinch to make. Plus I love everything make-ahead. Do it!!

I hope you enjoyed this collection of sweet + savory fall favorites!

ON MY MIND

  • THE CAKE BOOK!!! Just a casual announcement that I’m working on my second cookbook!!!! It will be, obviously, all about cakes and will include everything from casual cakes, classic cakes, bundt cakes, brunch cakes, snacking cakes, jazz hands cakes…and it will basically be a cake party. It will be released in fall 2021 and I will give more details as we get closer and share some sneak peeks — I can’t wait to share it with you!!!
  • EAT YOUR BOOKS. Eat Your Books is an AWESOME website that is a dream for cookbook lovers. If you’re a cookbook hoarder, like me, you can input the titles of all of the cookbooks that you own and then when you search by ingredients, it will come up with a list of recipes from your cookbook selection. It saves you hunting through all of your cookbooks and/or making the same stuff over and over again (guilty!). There are also lots of cookbook reviews as well as sample recipes from cookbooks, so you can test them out before you buy. I LOVE IT. Here is a coupon code to try it out free for a month: RF2020 …I don’t get anything from this, just wanted to share the cookbook love!
  • VOTING INFO. If you’d like to find out if you’re registered to vote, make sure your info is current, request a mail-in ballot, click here. It is a crazy jungle out there. I’m getting so many emails and text messages about political stuff and honestly, I frequently question if some of it is coming from the source that it claims. This is a website run by the US government that has official voting information. I hope all of you reading this will be voting in the upcoming election!!
  • TIE DYE. I am OBSESSED with these tie dye sweatshirts (I’ve bought two so far!). I received both within days of placing my order. Love the quality, true to size…you know the drill! There are also masks, napkins and tea towels. Danielle, the creator, is an LA-based chef and you can find her on her website and on Instagram.
  • BAKING OIL. California Olive Ranch has come out with two new olive oils that were specifically created for bakers — I’m in LOVE. One is created with almond oil and the other has the essence of vanilla bean — they are so great for people that love to bake with olive oil (ME!). I created two recipes for them to celebrate…you can find the Almond Chocolate Chip Cookies here and the Petite Vanilla Cakes here (I also tell you how to make this into one big bundt cake). The vanilla olive oil is available at Whole Foods and the almond olive oil is going to be at Sprouts (if it’s not there already). Try the oils (and the recipes!) and let me know what you think!
  • WATCHING. The Duchess on Netflix and The Vow on HBO Max. Definite raunchy elements to The Duchess, so you know going into it…but funny. The latter I just started at the recommendation of my cousin, Bubbie. If you’ve watched, let me know your thoughts AND give me your recommendations in the comments below. Looking for more funny stuff!!!
  • TEA. Someone recommended Bilo Herbs to me on Instagram because I was talking about my quest for good sleep…or something like that. I bought this Rest & Relaxation package and I love it. It really does relax me and both of the teas taste delicious. Not a scientific experiment, but I’m into it. I also tried the Heal Tea which has major chai vibes…it arrived an hour after my doctor told me I had diverticulitis…do you know what that is? It’s painful, I will tell you that!! I’ve been resting, sipping the tea and feeling better. Also splurged and bought these pajamas and I’m loving them. I would buy one for every day of the week if they weren’t so damn expensive. But if you’re up for new pjs and want to drop some coin, I recommend!

None of this is sponsored, just stuff I’m into. Happy fall sweet friend!!

Wishing you a beautiful weekend!!!

Rebecca
xoxo
