Holiday Cookie Box!

For our final post for the 12 Days of Sweet Treats I put together a Holiday Cookie Box! Amisha did too, go see her’s here. Also scroll below for cookies, photos of the cookie box, cookie tips + links to all of the recipes!

I realized as we were nearing the end of Sweet Treat fest that I was really focused on peppermint + chocolate and dulce de leche. There are several cookies in the photos below that I haven’t shared yet. The first is the Five-Spice Snickerdoodles — I will post that recipe next week and update this page asap. The second one are the Dulce de Leche Cups (so good!). Stay tuned for both. The final cookie seen in the photos below (that isn’t on the website) are the Burnt Sugar Ginger Cookies that I recently made for Hallmark Home & Family. I will link over to their website below as they shared the recipe.

For this week only!!! If you email your receipt of The Cookie Book purchased between Saturday, December 14 and Friday, December 20, 2019, I will send you a personalized gift card! I can write the card to you or whomever you’re gifting The Cookie Book to! Send your receipts (with timestamp) to [email protected], with your message (I can come up with something or you can be specific) and let me know who to address it to. I will mail them out asap so they arrive before Christmas. US & Canada address only. Email or comment below with any questions!

The Cookie Book can be found for $12+ and up right now (+ free shipping), from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Target, Book Depository (International), Walmart and Bam! Also, don’t forget your local bookstore…if they don’t have it, ask them to order it for you!!

I’m just saying…a holiday cookie box + The Cookie Book would be an awesome gift! xo

I had so much fun doing the 12 Days of Sweet Treats + this Holiday Cookie Box with Amisha @thejamlab (http://www.thejamlab.co)…we’re already talking about what we’ll do next year!

Let’s bake + gift a Holiday Cookie Box, shall we?

Holiday Cookie Box | Recipes via DisplacedHousewife Rebecca Firth | recipes, + tips

A friend made this wood box for me (could you die? isn’t it pretty?!)…it would cost a fortune to ship, but I think it would be fab to bust out after dinner with friends in lieu of a more traditional dessert…think of it as an oversized box of chocolates, but with all types of sweet treats, not just truffles!

I also love these cute reusable ones from American Heirloom and The Cookie Box (from The Pie Box people). Other options include vintage and ceramic loaf tins, bamboo steamer baskets, stationary boxes from Michael’s…

Espresso Chocolate Chip Cookies

Right there in the center of the cookie box are the Espresso Chocolate Chip Cookies. Swoon. Picture your very favorite chocolate chip cookie and then load it with finely ground espresso (or coffee!). Chewy, thin, soft. This one is simple and sooo delicious.

Dulce De Leche Baci Kisses

These little nuggets are a slice of heaven. The most difficult part is making the dulce de leche from scratch…which isn’t so much difficult as it just takes a bit of time. Otherwise, they’re pretty simple + delicious. For the photos I subbed in pecans for the hazelnuts (since I was out) and they turned out perfect. Make sure you use the weight of the hazelnuts and sub in the exact weight with pecans if you want to do the same swap. Make these!!!

Burnt Sugar Ginger Cookies

One of my favorite recipes from The Cookie Book! Not in the Holiday Chapter (it’s in Jazz Hands), but it should be. This cookie came to every single book signing with me. This is a perfectly holiday spiced cookie loaded with crunchy bits of burnt sugar (otherwise known as hard caramel). The link below will take you to the recipe over on Hallmark Home & Family, where I made them about a week ago (as soon as I can figure out how to edit the clip, I will try to get it up here).

Dark Chocolate Peppermint Cups

These dark chocolate cups are filled with a creamy, Oreo-like peppermint filling that’s laced with crunchy bits of crushed peppermint candies. They also require zero special equipment and are done in under an hour. You will become addicted to them year round (like I am!).

Peppermint Bark Cookie Bars

I dreamt about these bars for weeks before I had the time to recipe test them and I was sooo happy with the results. They have the texture of fudge-like brownies or blondies with layers of dark chocolate peppermint ganache, white chocolate ganache, crushed peppermint candies and a cookie base that’s loaded with caramel and vanilla vibes. You must make these!

Five-Spice Snickerdoodles

These cookies are super soft, light and chewy with the slightest crispiness around the edges. All of the classic hallmark flavors and textures of a snickerdoodle are here, with a bit of five-spice powder to give them some jazzy hands.

Burnt Sugar Muscovado Truffles

These are bananas delicious! More burnt sugar, more dipping things in chocolate. Your life will forever be changed by these nuggets and I’m not even remotely exaggerating. You’ll see.

Dark Chocolate Dulce De Leche Cups

This recipes is tested + photographed and just needs to be input into the website. Coming asap!!

Holiday Cookie Box Shipping Basics

Some cookies are better to give in person and others will be perfectly fine crossing the country. These are some of the shipping guidelines I use to figure out which cookies to ship, which sweet treats I’d like to gift to friends and family closer to home and the best way to get them wherever they’re headed!

  • Soft envelopes are strictly verboten when shipping cookies;
  • All cookies must be wrapped to ensure freshness;
  • Ship the fastest method you can afford;
  • Go for sturdy cookies (typically drop cookies are best);
  • Steer clear of soft frostings or glazes.
  • Whatever packaging you pick, make it worthy of the beautiful cookies that are going inside.
